KATHERINE hairdresser Jo Hersey will try to reclaim the blue ribbon seat from Labor for the CLP at next year’s election.
Ms Hersey was announced as the party’s candidate at a press conference on Friday morning.
In a statement, the CLP described her as a “forthright” Territorian and keen triathlon participant.
The CLP has held Katherine for the seat’s entire history with the exception of the past three years.
Incumbent Sandra Nelson won the seat for Labor for the first time in 2016.
Ms Nelson won’t contest the 2020 election.
