Alleged stolen cruiser stopped with spikes

UPDATE: Three cars stolen on Sunday and Monday in Alice Springs have been found, while two more remain missing, police have said.
Southern Watch Commander Shaun Furniss said one of the missing cars had been stolen during the day on Monday, while a grey Subaru taken from Desert Springs has also not be found.
“One (stolen car) being the grey Subaru XV NT CB44RS mentioned yesterday and one reported stolen during the day yesterday,” he said.
“This second is a 2014 white Proton sedan with Queensland number plates 165TOT.”
Wch Comdr Furniss said a Great Wall ute found in Sadadeen, a VW Golf found in Araluen and a Nissan Xtrail found in Kilgariff were all abandoned by thieves after being stolen on Sunday,
EARLIER: Multiple cars were allegedly stolen on the weekend in Central Australia, including one in Yuendumu for which police had to use tyre spikes to stop.
Alice Springs Court bolter caught
Southern Watch Commander Shaun Furniss said the station wagon was stolen from Yuendumu on Sunday about 10pm.
“This vehicle was sighted arriving in Alice Springs and a tyre deflation device was successfully used to deflate tyres on the vehicle,” he said.
“The vehicle was abandoned a short time later.”
He said police couldn’t find the youths seen running from the car.
Watch Cmdr Furniss said the car was taken for forensic examination.
Another three cars were also allegedly stolen across Alice Springs. Watch Cmdr Furniss said a 2008 silver VW Golf was taken from East Side during an alleged unlawful entry; a 2012 grey Subaru Xv was taken from Desert Springs, and a 2013 white Great Wall ute during an alleged unlawful entry in The Gap.
