With more than 40 sold-out shows and record attendance across Festival Park, Darwin Festival organisers are celebrating one of the biggest episodes in the event’s history.

After 20 consecutive days of partying, the 2024 Darwin Festival came to a close on Sunday, with more than 55,000 tickets sold across the vibrant month.

Artistic director Kate Fell attributed the festival’s success to the diverse program of events.

“This was a huge year and one of the most exciting line-ups the festival has had,” she declared.

“Audiences loved the diversity of the program – from interactive shows for children to late-night adults only shows in the Spiegeltent, from music concerts as the sun was setting at the Ski Club to incredible visual art exhibitions and everything in between.”

Of note, local artists also contributed to the bulk of the event, with 60 per cent of performers hailing from the Territory.

Darwin Festival Board chair Chris Osborne thanked the event’s supporters and confirmed the next instalment of the festival was locked in.

“We are so proud of the unifying effect that this event creates for the community and we are certainly looking forward to creating another incredible event next year.”

The next Darwin Festival will be held between 7 – 25 August, 2025.
