WITHOUT wanting to get ahead of ourselves and build up false hope about a good return for the Territory’s tourism industry this summer/wet season, there is every reason to be optimistic about seeing more visitors than expected.

Our airlines are doing their part in difficult and uncertain times by selling increased services to the Territory on the back of the hoped-for easing of travel restrictions thanks to the nation’s improved COVID-19 situation.

All going well, in one month there will be greater access to the Territory from Melbourne come December, with flights from this city direct to Alice and then on to Darwin. Jetstar already has direct flights to Darwin, but it will increase its daily run to seven days.

Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Adelaide and Sydney runs are already up and going, and holiday-makers who want to get away from their state are looking more and more to the Territory.

Of course, much of this can be credited to Tourism NT’s interstate incentive campaigns. On top of this, Territory drive holidays are being heavily promoted interstate.

People are getting the message that the Territory is a safe place to escape COVID-19 at the moment, so the NT can expect a massive boost in domestic tourism as COVID-19 restrictions ease over the coming months.

Territorians can play a part in this influx.

Rather than run the risk of holidaying interstate, now is the time to have a green wet season Christmas at home or a summer in the Alice.

Get your friends and family to come and share it with you. There are plenty of Holiday in the Territory incentives to be taken advantage of, by both locals and your interstate visitors.
