THERE’S no doubt Territorians dodged a bullet in our recent brush with the sort of lockdowns that have plagued other states since the world was plunged into crisis by coronavirus last year.
We’ve been incredibly lucky to avoid the worst of it and we continue to be lucky but now is not the time for complacency.
Of course it’s important that we follow the instructions of the public health officials who have kept us safe and that means continuing to check in everywhere we go.
But more important in the long term will be our uptake of the vaccine, whether Pfizer or AstraZeneca depending on your age and the advice of your GP.
The only way to secure the lifestyle and freedoms Territorians hold dear will be for as many of us as humanly possible to roll up our sleeves and go get a jab.
We know we’re already leading the nation in vaccination rates but that’s not an excuse to put it off until another day.
That high take up means there might be a bit of a wait before you can get an appointment but that’s all the more reason to pick up the phone today.

Danila Dilba are still taking bookings and so too now are pharmacists and since the opening of the new mass vaccination hub last week there’s no longer any reason to wait another day to get inoculated.
The sooner you get your first shot, the sooner you can get your second shot and the sooner we can all kiss the looming threat of snap lockdowns goodbye.
So if you’re yet to bite the bullet, do the right thing by your fellow Territorians, fellow Australians and the world.
It’s time we got back to living our best lives in the best place on Earth — for good.
