THE coronavirus pandemic has put the Territory in the perfect position to reinvent itself and establish a new identity.
With international borders still closed and the domestic travel bug nipping at Australians’ heels, people are looking for new areas to explore and what better place than the Northern Territory?
But we must be reminded of why people might not have considered exploring the Territory prior to Covid-19.

Simply put, there were better offers elsewhere.
We need to change that and Territorians have told us how.
A survey by the NT News asking readers what their big ideas were to transform the Territory’s economy, tourism industry and boost population had an overwhelming response.
Readers were eager to share their ideas, going so far as to offer in-depth explanations and examples.
The people have ideas.
They know what they want their home to look like and their thoughts should be taken as seriously as industry leaders. Concepts such as water parks, ocean baths and activating the Esplanade are not out of the realm of possibility.
They are within reach and there’s no harm in establishing a long-term plan to achieve the other ideas. Territorians have spoken and the responses make it clear they want to be listened to, so maybe it’s time.
