Covid-19 patient in Royal Darwin Hospital ICU a reminder to stay vigilant

Having an Australian citizen currently in the intensive care unit of our very own Royal Darwin Hospital with Covid-19 is shocking and incredibly concerning – and it’s also an important reminder of just how serious this pandemic is.

HAVING an Australian citizen currently in the intensive care unit of our very own Royal Darwin Hospital with Covid-19 is shocking and incredibly concerning.

It’s also an important reminder of just how serious this pandemic is.

With the privileges we have here in the Territory, it’s easy to forget that this virus has claimed the lives of more than 3 million people around the world.

We are lucky to have the health resources that we have here, but they can still only be stretched so far.

In fact, although there are contingency plans in place, we only have two ICU beds for Covid patients.

We simply cannot afford to have our hospitals overrun with Covid patients.

We also cannot afford to have to shut the Territory down right before one of the biggest dry seasons in years.

This is why it is so important that we remain completely vigilant about protecting ourselves from this deadly virus.

We need to be completely strict with our borders to protect the Territory from the Melbourne Covid cluster – including people entering from air, train and road.

The NT government needs to be doing everything in its power to ensure that no one who enters the Territory breaks the rules.

Because at the end of the day, when it comes to this virus, everyone is forced to pay for one person’s mistake.
