THE return of cracker night is a testament to the hard work of Territorians in keeping coronavirus out of the NT.

Locals young and old were devastated last year when Chief Minister Michael Gunner cancelled the iconic event following myriad of health and resourcing concerns.

The much-anticipated event will likely be back in 2021, given we continue to have COVID-19 under control.

Cracker night is a beloved tradition, and many new and long-term Territorians missed out on the opportunity to see the skies light up in celebration of our independence.

We must remain vigilant for the safety of our community and for the opportunity to celebrate our independence in true Territory style.

All eyes have been on the Northern Territory since the beginning of the pandemic.
