Editorial: Do the right thing and just wear your face mask
Throughout this entire pandemic, something that has remained in contention across the world has been the wearing of face masks. But, if the choice is between chucking on a mask or having to stay inside the house, I know which I would pick.

THROUGHOUT this entire pandemic, something that has remained contentious across the world has been the wearing of face masks.
Some say they are unnecessary, some say they don’t help prevent the spread and some say they just don’t want to wear them because they’re uncomfortable. And yes, it’s true.

I think most would agree that wearing a mask can be a pain. Doubly so if you’re someone who wears glasses and gets to deal with the challenge of maintaining your sight as the breath from your mask continually fogs up your lenses.
But, at the end of the day, the medical evidence is there. Masks really do make a hell of a lot of difference when it comes to keeping yourself and the others around you as safe as possible.
Thanks to masks, we are still able to do things like go to the shops and ride on public transport during a Covid-19 outbreak.
It also means that we are able to comfortably and safely exit a full lockdown well before it would be possible to do so without the wearing of masks.
Walking around Darwin lately, it’s been really pleasing to see fellow community members diligently wearing their masks in public to keep everyone safe.
Although, there are a few who insist on not wearing them and those vocal few can ruin it for everyone else.
But if the choice is between chucking on a mask or having to stay inside the house, I know which I would pick.
