EDITORIAL: As we face our toughest test, Territorians have got this

We’re facing our toughest test of the pandemic so far, but as the past 18 months have proven, there’s no other community on earth more capable of pulling together, writes The Editor.

THERE’S nowhere else any of us would’ve rather been over the past 18 months.

While the pandemic raged overseas and occasionally interstate, Territorians pulled together and kept Covid-19 at bay.

Few other jurisdictions could’ve claimed to have had not one locally acquired case since the pandemic began.

Unfortunately, the past few days have shown we’re not immune and Territorians are now faced with the task of banding together to make sure we keep our most vulnerable people safe.

This is our biggest test yet.

But it’s also a test we all know Territorians can pass.

All we need to do is listen to the health advice, get tested if you feel sick, and immediately contact authorities if you believe you’ve been at an exposure site at a critical time.

Every Territorian owes it to each other to make sure we get a handle on this virus, so we can get back to getting out and about during this fantastic dry season.

It may be another week or even a month before we can head to the pub for a beer, but it will be all the more refreshing if we dig in and defeat this virus.

Crucial jobs in industries like tourism and hospitality, which have only just recovered from the first lockdown, are relying on us to do our part to stop the spread.

Territorians, we’ve got this.
