Covid border plans need to be made so Territorians can see loved ones

At some point a line will need to be drawn in the sand around Covid border restrictions, and Territorians deserve to know when.

Rapid antigen tests 'crucial' in driving COVID-19 infection numbers down

A LINE in the sand must soon be drawn around border Covid-19 restrictions.

The NT's border policies have protected Territorians many times in our hour of need.

It has come at the cost of having to settle for Zoom or FaceTime calls with loved ones, cancelling trips of a lifetime and missing out on weddings and birthdays we were so desperate to attend.

Territorians were happy to do this up until a point, when ourselves and the nation rolled up our sleeves to get vaccinated.

The NT’s jab numbers and our fellow states are rising rapidly but there seems to be no end to when our border restrictions will ease.

Territorians are already fed up they can’t go and see their families and friends but there will come a point when they say enough is enough.

The Australian Education Union NT has already flagged an exodus of remote teachers could be possible if border restrictions remain.

There are likely plenty more people considering it’s worth staying in the Territory if they can’t travel without being constantly warned to prepare for quarantine or else.

Christmas is approaching as fast as is our 70 to 80 per cent vaccination rates.

At what number will the authorities be satisfied we can hug our loved ones? Territorians are demanding an answer and with all they’ve endured, they deserve one.
