Jessica Mauboy is pregnant with her first child.
Confidential can reveal the celebrated chart topping singer has told family, close friends and her musical creative family over the past week to ensure they were among the first to know.
It is understood the 35-year-old is around five months pregnant and will give birth early next year.
At the weekend, Mauboy performed at a combined fundraiser in Western Australia for the Sydney Children’s Hopsitals Foundation, the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation and Children’s Cancer Institute.
There, she wore an ovesize black pant and jacket outfit that showed a small growing baby bump.
The singer wed long-time partner, Themeli ‘Them’ Magripilis, in Darwin in July, 2022.
The couple met when she was just 18 at a nightclub in the Northern Territory capital.
Mauboy is one of five daughters to father Ferdy and mother Therese and has several nieces and nephews.
She is of course one of our most recognisable faces thanks to her years in the spotlight, having first risen to fame as a contestant on Australian Idol in 2006.
Mauboy placed runner-up to Damien Leith and went on to release countless radio hits.
This month she proudly released her new album, Yours Forever Tour Live, and this weekend will perform the final two shows of the 25 date tour in Melbourne.
Despite her huge public profile, Mauboy has kept her personal life as low key as possible.
In 2019, she told WHO magazine she wanted to one day become a mother.
“Having kids and getting married is something I can visualise, but it’s hard when you’re so deep in the creative process. You just want to give every part of you to the project,” she said.
“My sisters always say, ‘When are we going to have a little Jess or little Themeli running around?’ And Them’s parents are getting much older and they’re like, ‘When are you going to have a baby? I want to have a little grandson or granddaughter.’ They’re freaking me out!”
And with the Telegraph last year, the former Voice Australia judge spoke of her “precious” marriage.
“When I think of marriage, you think of this vision of being home, having children, doing home things, it is a very old school mentality that I grew up with,” she said.
“Having absorbed and seen my friends having children and being married, it’s a very different take today, you know? My kind of vision now is that I’m a strong woman, I may be married, but that doesn’t tie me down to married life. It doesn’t define me.”
