Simon Cowell's praise for Sydney dancers

A troupe of 31 Brent Street dancers from Sydney will compete in the America’s Got Talent Grand Final with judge Howie Mandel saying they should win and urging Simon Cowell to “write a cheque for a million dollars right now”.

After blowing the judges away throughout the competition, they will vie for the season crown against nine other acts in the episode that will be watched by millions globally.

Judge Howie Mandel gave the group a ‘Golden Buzzer’ through to the live finals when they auditioned.

At the time, Simon Cowell said: “Apart from what they were doing with their bodies, it was what they were doing with their brains because this was such a really well thought-out creative original … even though there was a lot of you, it was almost like there was just one. I am guessing this took months and months to prepare.”

Paris Cavanagh choreographed the incredible performances with the group impressing again at the finals and making it through to the live Grand Final. The performance will be filmed live on Tuesday in Los Angeles with the winner to be announced a week later.

Grand finalists compete against each other to secure the most public votes with the winner to receive the series crown and a cash prize of $US1 million.

Brent Street is one of the top dancing schools in the country.

“This experience has felt like a dream,” 17-year-old Zac De Gersigny told Confidential.

“Younger Zac would have never imagined that I would be here right now dancing on the AGT stage … grateful does not even begin to describe how I feel right now. I cannot believe that we have made it to the finals and I am so proud of what we have achieved as a team already.”

Lead female dancer Abby Faith White described the experience as being “like a roller coaster”.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am going to hold very close to my heart,” she said.

“The thought of myself and my team representing Australia, especially for the art form of dance just brings me so much joy, passion and love to my heart and just knowing that Aussies back home, and people all over the world, are supporting and rooting for us is so surreal.”

All four judges – Mandell, Cowell, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum – have heaped praise on the Sydney dancers.

“I loved it,” Klum said.

“I love how you find a way to keep reinventing yourself, it seems like every time you give us an epic new choreography and it is always special, it is always memorable.”

Cowell said: “Unbelievable. That was absolutely stunning. We’ve had over the years The Mayyas who won (season 17) and we have you. The creativity, the skill, being original, I haven’t given you enough credit so I apologise. I get excited when people care and I can see how much this means to you. The final would not be the final without you.”
