The first decent showers of the season are rolling in, with a high chance of showers predicted for Darwin for the coming days.
After months of enjoying the sunny dry, the Bureau of Meteorology has predicted rainfall for the greater Darwin region, with a 70 per cent chance of showers for Monday and 80 per cent chance of showers for Tuesday.
A BOM spokesperson told the NT News scattered showers across the Top End could be expected for “during both the afternoon and overnight”.
“Most places can expect less than 10mm although isolated locations in the northwest may get heavier double-digit falls overnight,” they said.
“For many, this will be the first rain seen since the end of the last wet season.”
In the south, a cloud band is developing across central and southern NT, with showers likely in the western regions.
“Thunderstorms are also possible, the cloud band is expected to clear from the southern districts by Tuesday and weaken over the central districts during Wednesday,” the Bureau spokesperson said.
“Most places can expect less than 5mm although isolated locations may get 10 to 15mm.”
