A Woy Woy man armed with a bat who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend – who also dated his sister – during a violent late-night rampage, has pleaded guilty in court.

Travis Conijn, 30, pleaded guilty in Gosford Local Court to charges including being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and destroying or damaging property.

Travis was in a relationship with his former partner for 11 years before being served with an AVO in November 2023.

According to police facts, at about 10pm on February 19 this year, Travis went to his ex-girlfriend’s house, breaching an apprehended violence order (AVO) in the process.

He sent a Snapchat message to his ex-girlfriend’s current partner, warning that he knew where he was.

According to court documents, moments later, the man heard a knock at the door and saw Claire, (his ex-girlfriend) standing outside.

An argument broke out between Claire and Conijn’s ex-girlfriend, as Claire insisted on speaking with her ex, court documents state.

When Claire and her ex-partner then spoke, an argument escalated, during which Claire allegedly said, “You’re a dead man.”

Moments later, Conijn entered the yard holding a black baseball bat and said, “I’m going to kill you.”

He swung the bat at the man, striking the glass sliding door and causing it to shatter.

He then smashed the bonnet and driver’s side window of the man’s car, shattering the window.

Fearing for their safety, the couple tried to flee the flat. However, Claire allegedly grabbed Conijn’s ex-girlfriend and threw her onto the bullbar of a car, sparking a violent brawl according to court documents.

Claire allegedly punched the woman in the face five to six times and grabbed her by the throat.

Court documents state the victim pushed Claire away with her feet in an attempt to escape the assault. During the melee, Conijn continued shouting, “I’m going to kill you” and “stay away from my sister.”

He then struck his ex-girlfriends partner in the upper arm with the baseball bat, causing him to fall backwards.

Conijn then turned to his ex-girlfriend and said, “Do you wanna be next?” while she was still fighting Claire.

He pressed the baseball bat horizontally against her chest and said, “Do you wanna get hit, c--t?” before turning his rage towards her car.

Conijn and Claire left the scene at about 10.19pm. At 1.16am, the pair presented themselves at Woy Woy Police Station.

Conijn is due to be sentenced at a later date. His sister has pleaded not guilty to common assault and is scheduled to face a hearing on November 19.
