NSW Police motorcyclist injured after being hit by car during traffic stop at Narellan

Diversions are in place in Sydney’s southwest after a NSW Police officer was injured while conducting a traffic stop.

A NSW Police motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car while conducting a vehicle stop in Sydney’s southwest.

Emergency services were called to The Northern Rd in Narellan shortly before 5.30am on Tuesday after the officer was struck by a Kia Carnival while standing beside his motorcycle.

The officer, believed to be in his 40s and attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, was treated at the scene by paramedics for a suspected hip injury before being transported to Liverpool Hospital.

The driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old man, was taken for mandatory testing.

The Northern Road is closed southbound at Narellan just past Fairwater Drive.

Southbound traffic is being diverted into Porrende Street, Grahams Hill Road, Camden Valley Way and Narellan Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and exercise caution.

Emergency services and traffic crews are on site, with officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit en route to the scene.
