Four people charged following a violent brawl in Sydney’s west which allegedly left a man with a stab wound to his back are fighting the charges.
About 4.15am on March 17, emergency services were called to Taminga Rd, Green Valley, following reports of a brawl.
Officers arrived to find a group of people allegedly fighting in the street.
Police separated the group and found a 29-year-old man – allegedly wearing a balaclava – with a stab wound to his back.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard in a serious but stable condition.
Police arrested Fifita Sulieti Tonga, Fifili Tonga, Chadia Tonga and Pepili Tonga and charged them with one count each of affray.
They were not charged in relation to the stab victim.
Represented by Anna Tang, principal solicitor at Tang Lawyers, the group had their matters briefly mentioned at Liverpool Local Court where they all pleaded not guilty on Monday.
Documents tendered in court alleged between 4.20am and 4.30am on March 17, they each used unlawful violence towards an individual “such that a person of reasonable firmness if present at the scene would have feared for their safety”.
Their matters were adjourned to May 26 at Liverpool Local Court for mention.
