A labourer has admitted he caused multiple collisions, drove on the footpath and went through a red traffic light into oncoming cars in a dangerous trail of destruction in Sydney’s southeast.

Corey James Reed, 31, pleaded guilty to driving recklessly in a dangerous manner, two counts of not giving particulars to another drug and possessing prohibited drugs.

He was due to defend the allegations but changed his plea in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.

Agreed facts tendered to court said Reed was erratically driving his car in the Kogarah area about 12.40pm on May 7 last year.

Reed refused to stop in traffic and drove onto a pedestrian sidewalk to get around stopped cars.

As he approached a roundabout, he drove to the left of a stopped car waiting to enter the roundabout and again drove over a pedestrian sidewalk.

While attempting to turn left through the roundabout, Reed collided with the passenger side door of another car which was headed southbound on Harrow Rd.

He continued driving on Park Rd in Kogarah Bay before he came to the intersection of Princes Hwy, when the light turned red.

Reed continued through the intersection and into oncoming traffic, causing another driver to collide with his car, damaging its wheel and disabling it

Reed’s car blocked multiple lanes of traffic before he fled on foot into Arthur St, Carlton where he hid in the garden of a home.

The documents said throughout the incident, Reed drove in a “reckless manner which endangered the public”.

Police arrived a short time later and noted Reed appeared heavily drug affected, behaved erratically and did not finish his sentences.

Reed admitted he had taken ice before police located a plastic container with 1.53g of methamphetamine inside his car.

He was taken to St George Hospital for treatment for leg, back and head pain before he did a police interview where he made full admissions to his driving.

The court heard Reed had nine weeks left of a residential drug rehabilitation program.

He will be sentenced in June.
