Education Minister Eva Lawler said 79 per cent of the NT’s eligible students received their Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training in 2022.

“It’s a substantial improvement on previous years,” Ms Lawler said.

“I think with Covid, people realised that this is what they want to do, and they all focused and knuckled down, but I think also, you saw that with Essington and Darwin High, you’ve got other students that are encouraging you, pushing you, that makes a difference as well.”

There were 70 students studying from remote NT communities, including the first six students to graduate from Laynhapuy Homelands School in East Arnhem land.

“I’m confident that we have bright, adaptable and innovative school leavers who will achieve anything they set their minds to,” Ms Lawler said.

“For our Year 12 students, as well as their parents, carers, families and teachers – the results are an indication of your hard work, dedication and commitment.”
