OUR educators are some of the most incredible heroes in the Territory, in particular our childcare educators. In a time of fear and uncertainty throughout the coronavirus pandemic, educators stepped up to ensure our young children could learn while being safe.

It’s time we recognise these amazing individuals.

We thought getting you, our readers, to nominate your favourite educators might be a good way to celebrate them.

The NT News put out a call to find the Territory’s favourite childcare educator and was absolutely inundated with responses.

From Darwin to Katherine and Alice Springs, we received hundreds of comments nominating favourite educators, with many sharing how their children’s lives were bettered by these educators.

We’ve managed to narrow the search down to 30 finalists. Now, it’s up to you to decide who is Territory’s favourite.

The below educators all received multiple nominations. We’ve included a comment from a parent or carer for each one.

Maria Baron – Goodstart Early Learning Nightcliff

Maria is our educational leader of the centre and she goes above and beyond in everything she does for the centre. She is a dedicated staff, children’s adore her and parents lover her.

Junell Moore – Goodstart Early Learning Bakewell

She goes above and beyond for both the children and the centre, coming in on weekends and staying well after hours to ensure children and families have the best experience.

Renata has dedicated many years of her life to take care of children while parent’s and carers go to work in the dessert. Renata is renowned for supporting the childcare workers, providing a fun atmosphere for the children, additional to that Renata is always working above and beyond.

She has such a special way of having a relationship with the children. All the children adore her and she has amazing knowledge of how children develop and their interests.

Charmaine is very passionate about her job. She continually finds ways to make the children learn and have fun while their parents are working. She has been working as an educator for over 10 years and has touched a lot of children’s and parents hearts.

Since my children have become one of the Bakewell Rugga-muffins, I noticed that having such a fantastic male role model and educator such as Kyle, has not only my done wonders for my children while in care and at home but from other Children as well.

My boy has “cooked” and cared for us stating he was “Kyle the master chef Doctor” my lil miss can’t cry out any louder for her BooBooBanishing and Monster scarer Kyle. I swear they only go there to hang out with him

This beautiful person has such a wonderful personality, she is a lovely mother and wife. Being in the dessert can be a hard life at times, however I personally feel reassured to drop of my child to the childcare centre knowing Aimee will take care of all the children like her own. A knowledgeable person, takes pride in her work, bubbly personality that all the kids love.

She is such a vibrant educator who finds and nurtures strengths in the kids. She’s always on the hunt for fun things to show the kids. She also picks flowers for the kids on her walk to work every morning. It’s the small things.

Children are her absolute life and no one will ever look after your child as well as Tracey! Every child she looks after becomes her personal family!! The love she shows for each and every child is unbelievable. You couldn’t ask for a better person/childcare worker ever!
