THE Tiwi Islands Grand Final — one of the most anticipated games on the Aussie footy calendar — has been played and won for another year.
And in a weekend that saw two other NTFL Grand Final cliffhangers — with the Nightcliff Tigers and St Mary’s going to extra time after being tied at full time in the Men’s NTFL final and PINT getting up over the Darwin Buffettes by just 11 points in the Women’s final — the Walama Bulldogs saw off the Imalu Tigers by just 12 points.
The game was another nailbiter with the Bulldogs outlasting the Tigers after the two sides had been just 3 points apart with just minutes to go in the game.
The Bulldogs skipped away in the closing moments of the game to take the final 15.5 (95) to 12.11 (83).
The Tiwi Islands Grand Final is one of the most anticipated events on the Aussie footy calendar with planes and ferries across to the islands often booked out for the day months in advance.
