TERRITORIANS are being warned about entering water holes following recent heavy rains after a dog was snatched by a croc in the water in a Darwin rural area culvert.
A mate of local man Koppy Dayne — who did not want to be named — was walking his dogs at the culvert along Gunn Point Rd about 8.5km from the Iron Bridge about 8am Thursday.

“The dog went for a quick drink and swam out a bit and a croc came out of nowhere and grabbed him,” Mr Dayne said in a Facebook post.
“I’ve lived here a long time and they’re not normally that close.”
Mr Dayne said the croc was between 2.5m to 3m.
He said his post was a wake up call for many Territory families who enjoy swimming in those areas.

“All the spots we usually swim in, we think we’re safe swimming there or going through with quadbikes,” he said.
“We need to be mindful of crocs. They could be anywhere now, especially because there’s more rain. They could be travelling through anywhere.”
