THE race that stops the nation may be a little bit different this year, but Territorians are still expected to enjoy the Melbourne Cup in droves.

Functions and luncheons are being held across the NT to celebrate the famous horse race.

The Darwin Turf Club will have its own local races as well as interstate races broadcast through out the venue.

Heading trackside is local Christine Spielmann – who is in the running for the Myer Fashions on your Front Lawn competition.

Ms Spielmann said Cup Day was always a great opportunity to relax with friends and dress up.

“It’s also amazing that we get to experience the Melbourne Cup trackside in Darwin,” she said.
