FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a large structure fire at a supermarket in Tennant Creek.
NT Fire and Rescue Services were called on scene to at a large fire at the IGA in the main street of Tennant Creek on Sunday night.
Local fire crews were alerted to a fire at the back of the supermarket on Patterson Street around 7.25pm.
A large fire at the rear of the building was well underway when crews arrived.
Fire fighters were still on scene working to control and contain the fire at 9.30pm.
A spokeswoman from St Johns Ambulance said paramedics attended the scene, but no one had to be taken to hospital.
“Crews attended overnight with fire crews as a part of the service to make sure everyone was okay,” she said.
She said the store appeared to be closed during the fire.
Community members are advised to avoid the area where possible, and give way to emergency workers and vehicles.
