JEANETTE Anictomatis has had a lifelong desire to help others, and she credits the Northern Territory for giving her opportunities to do that.

Mrs Anictomatis has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her services to the Territory community.

Mrs Anictomatis, originally from Scotland, has spent the past 50 years in the Territory taking every opportunity to help her community but didn’t find her stride until her husband John Anictomatis became NT Administrator in 2000.

“It was almost like a dream come true to be patron of so many organisations when you were a person who wanted to help in the community,” she said.

Mrs Anictomatis continues to serve as the NT’s Honorary Consul of the United Kingdom, and as a Helping People Achieve board member.

Today Mrs Anictomatis was recognised with a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her services to the Northern Territory community through representational roles.
