NEW potholes are forming overnight across Darwin as rain continues to soak the Top End.

The combination of wet weather and heavy traffic has kept Darwin council road crews busy conducting quick fixes of the holes in preparation for a more thorough repair once drier conditions return.

Dozens of holes have been spotted across Darwin in recent days.

Darwin Airport reported 75mm of rain in the 24 hours to Saturday morning and the inundation is not expected to end soon.

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting more than 30mm of rainfall almost every day next week, with more than 80 per cent certainty.
