A STORM drenched Darwin Friday morning — with about 40mm of rainfall recorded at Darwin Airport in 90 minutes after the wild weather began about 8.30am.
Rain began shortly after 8am and Bureau of Meteorology predict the rainy weather will hang around for much of the day.

At 8am the temperature in Darwin was a stifling 30.2C and in the space of just 20 minutes — it dropped to a chilly 24.9C.
At 9am the mercury had dropped to 22.6C with an apparent temperature of 19.1C, however at 8.47am it dipped further to a chilly 18.5C before rising again.
Tents at Marrara Stadium were picked up by the winds and damaged as a result of the storm.
The tents were erected to shelter residents who were evacuated from communities in the firing line of Cyclone Trevor.
Tents were pulled from their pegs, and lay in heaps on the ground, while stretcher beds were drenched.
