Principal to trade classrooms for retirement

AFTER 11 wonderful years, the beloved leader of a northern suburbs primary school is trading classrooms and assemblies for retirement

AFTER 11 wonderful years, the beloved leader of Jingili Primary School is trading classrooms and assemblies for retirement.

Principal Carin Symonds ends her tenure at Jingili Primary this year and said she treasured her time at the popular school.

Ms Symonds said one of the highlights of her time at Jingili was bringing the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program to the school, which educates students about healthy eating, the environment, sustainability and personal and social capabilities.

“Also seeing children go away from the school and come back and talk about it with such fondness, that’s a highlight for me,” she said.

Ms Symonds hopes to see the future leader of Jingili Primary continue to grow the school and community.

“Build and grow the things already in place and develop the relationships that help make the school run well,” she said.

“And have a sense of humour.”
