Four girls arrested after Parap servo incident

Four youths have been arrested in relation to a robbery at a Top End service station.

UPDATE 11.50AM: FOUR youths have been arrested in relation to a robbery at a Top End service station in Parap on Tuesday night.

At 10.15pm, seven youths allegedly attempted to enter the servo on Stuart Hwy and tried to steal items.

They are also alleged to have assaulted an employee, holding the worker at knifepoint before leaving the scene.

Strike Force Trident detectives arrested four girls on Wednesday morning aged between 12 and 14, with charges expected to be laid later in the day.

“This behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information, to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 10022129,” Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said.

EARLIER: A TOP End servo worker was held at knifepoint by a group of youths, according to police.

Northern Watch Commander Xavier McMahon said the incident occurred at a Parap service station about 10pm on Tuesday night when seven youths entered the business with up to five instigating the incident.

“The employee that was standing there behind the counter was able to remove them from the store but in doing so, the youths retaliated by throwing an item that struck the victim,” Cmdr McMahon said.

“They then later returned where they threatened that victim with an edged weapon.”

The shop attendee was not hurt and did not require further medical treatment.

Police have obtained the service station CCTV and continue to investigate.

“It’s pretty disappointing because I understand that they (the service station itself) were the victim of a similar matter two days ago as well,” Cmdr McMahon said.

He urged anyone with more information to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

“If there’s any members of the public that witnessed it at all or any suspicious behaviour at 10pm last night, please get in touch with us,” he said.
