A FUEL tank has exploded at a business in Pinelands, injuring a man and destroying plant and equipment and a shade structure.
NT Fire and Rescue Acting Station Officer Xavier Gosling said fireys received a call at 12.25pm reporting an explosion at Fuel Calibration Services on McKinnon Rd, Pinelands.
“Initial investigations look like it was a fuel tank behind us (that caught alight) but that is very early into the investigation,” Mr Gosling said.

The impact of the explosion blew out the windows of the large shed next to it.
Flames reached as high as 30m, with 15 fireys using two fire trucks and taking 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control. As a safety measure police shut down McKinnon Rd while fireys fought the blaze.

A 45-year-old man was rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital where he received treatment to wounds to his face, which he sustained in the blaze.
A fire investigator and NT WorkSafe were at the scene trying to piece together what caused the explosion and fire.
