THE Country Liberal Party is investigating rumours of alleged physical altercations involving NT Senator Sam McMahon and members of her staff.
CLP president Ron Kelly confirmed he had heard the rumours during the weekend and the party would now conduct a formal investigation into whether there was substance to the claims.
“I have heard (on Saturday) that there were allegations and we will investigate,” he said.
“These are allegations, people can make up all sorts of stuff, it might be true, it might be false, that’s why you investigate.
“If or when allegations are ever made they will be investigated.”

Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and leader of the Nationals — in whose party room Ms McMahon sits — said while the government “takes all matters of workplace safety very seriously”, he would not comment on individual staffing matters.
“No-one should feel unsafe in a workplace,” he said.
“The Department of Finance provides independent and confidential support and administers work health and safety policies and processes, which are available to all staff and parliamentarians.”
Ms McMahon’s office was contacted for comment.
