MUMS and dads with schoolchildren will get financial relief with the NT Government extending the life of current $100 sports vouchers.

They were due to expire this month, but the redemption date for the 2019-20 Sport and Learn to Swim Vouchers, which includes the 2019 semester two voucher and the latest 2020 semester one voucher, will now be June 12.

The popular sport voucher scheme helps families with the cost of organised sport, recreation and cultural activities.

The vouchers are available to children enrolled from preschool to year 12, including homeschooled children.

Families with children enrolled in urban schools are entitled to a $100 sports voucher each semester to help with the cost of participating in sport or cultural activity.

The expiry date for the voucher has been extended from May 31 to June 12.

Tourism Sport and Culture Minister Lauren Moss said the two week extension for the Urban Sport Voucher Scheme, including Learn to Swim vouchers, will help families save money and give clubs extra time to organise activities.

“Families with children enrolled in urban schools are entitled to a $100 sport voucher each semester to help with the cost of their child participating in a chosen sport, active recreation or cultural activity – and can be used with more than 350 registered Activity Providers,” she said.
