NT Police are investigating after two travellers who allegedly failed to declare they spent time in NSW travelled through the Territory and were then sent back by WA Police after crossing the border.

One of the travellers, a 50-year-old woman, flew to WA from Darwin and was sent back on a plane to the Territory by WA Police. She left NSW on July 12.

It’s still unclear whether the travellers were in declared hot spots in NSW and whether they lied on their NT border forms.

It's also not yet known whether WA Police informed their NT counterparts of the alleged breaches.

The other traveller was a 19-year-old man who drove to the Kununurra checkpoint in WA earlier this week, and was escorted back into the Northern Territory by WA Police.

The travellers were both allegedly declined entry on multiple attempts at submitting a WA border G2G pass, before submitting successful applications that purposely omitted NSW travel.

Western Australia currently has its border closed to anyone who was in NSW in the previous 14 days.

The NT has different rules in place, with its borders shut only to those who’ve arrived from or travelled through a declared hotspot in NSW.
