Man dead, four others hospitalised in horrific crash near Kintore in the Central Desert

UPDATE 1.30pm: A 60-year-old man has been flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition after he was injured in a single-vehicle rollover, which killed one man and injured three others, in Central Australia on Thursday.

Northern Territory Police are investigating the cause of the fatal crash which occurred around 3:30pm on a remote unsealed road, approximately 100km east of Kintore, west of Alice Springs.

A spokeswoman for NT Health said one man stayed in Kintore with minor injuries while three others were hospitalised.

“A 47-year-old man and a 57-year-old man remain in Alice Springs Hospital Emergency Department in a stable condition.”

UPDATE 10.15am: POLICE are investigating the cause of a single vehicle crash west of Alice Springs which killed a man and injured four others on Thursday afternoon.

Northern Territory Police attended the scene of a fatal crash after they received a report just after 3:30pm of a single vehicle rollover on a remote unsealed road, approximately 100km east of Kintore, a town which is 530km from Alice Springs.

Local police attended with the assistance of the local clinic.

An NTPFES spokeswoman said all give occupants of the vehicle were men.

“One male was deceased, and four surviving passengers all suffered injuries including two with serious injuries.

“All were flown to Alice Springs Hospital via Royal Flying Doctors Service.

“Major Crash detectives have attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances of the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.”

EARLIER: MAN has died and four others have been hospitalised after a car crash in the Central Desert region overnight.

An NTPFES spokeswoman said the crash occurred approximately 100km east of Kintore, about 530km west of Alice Springs and 40km from the border with Western Australia.

“Initial details are that five males were travelling in the same vehicle,” she said.

“One was deceased, and there are four others with a range of injuries from minor to serious.”
