NT Police fine man for not wearing face mask, another 24 for not getting travel permission

NT Police issued a plethora of Covid-19 fines in the past week, including to a man who refused to wear a face mask.

A MAN who refused to wear a face mask is among the plethora of people who were slapped with Covid-19 fines in the past week.

NT Police Operation Crown members issued 24 fines to travellers who neglected to get approval to enter the Territory.

In addition to the travellers, one man was found to be breaching his isolation direction. He was taken to the Howard Springs Quarantine Facility to complete the isolate and test requirement.

Another man allegedly refused to wear a face mask. Both men were given fines.

Incident Controller Hege Burns reminded travellers to familiarise themselves with the requirements to enter the NT.

“The penalty for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer Direction is $5024. That is a hefty fine to pay when you can simply just follow the rules,” she said.

“Travellers who do not have the prior approval to enter the Territory are turned around and have to fly back to where they came from. To avoid this happening to you, please ensure you understand the requirements before you travel.”
