WELL-KNOWN Northern Territory model and actor Magnolia Maymuru has given birth to her first child.
The former Miss World Australia contestant posted a photo of her and her partner with their newborn child – a girl – on her Instagram account yesterday.
The post was simply captioned ‘my family’.
Ms Maymuru, a Yolngu woman who grew up in Yirrkala in northern East Arnhem Land, became the NT’s first ever Miss World Australia contestant when she entered the pageant in 2016, aged just 19.

She was also the first Indigenous woman to take part in the competition.
She finished in the top 10 and was one of the most talked about contestants that year for challenging beauty ideals.
Ms Maymuru has continued to model since, including for the likes of David Jones, Vogue Australia and InStyle magazine.
In 2017, she travelled to Sao Paulo to walk the catwalk at Brazil Fashion Week.
Ms Maymuru is also an award-winning actor.

In December 2019, she was awarded the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) award for best supporting actor for her role in critically acclaimed film The Nightingale.
The role was her film debut.
