INSPIRED by his time working in an oncology ward, a Palmerston health worker is shaving his head to support cancer patients in their time of need.
Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) Rehab Service occupational therapist Nick Sneyd, 26, will lose his locks at a World’s Greatest Shave event today to fundraise for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Mr Sneyd said he had decided to shave after a six-month rotation on the Royal Hobart Hospital oncology ward last year, which had opened his eyes to the bravery, optimism and resilience most patients showed in the face of a cancer diagnosis.

“It’s changed the way I live my own life, because we all have a tendency to live like we have unlimited time and cancer puts a stop to that thinking pretty quickly and makes you think about how you’re living your life,” he said.
“It’s been a huge inspiration for me, and I want to give something back from what I’ve taken from that experience.”
Mr Sneyd’s shave will take place at PRH at 12pm.
