THE Northern Territory’s chief health officer Hugh Heggie has been forced in to quarantine after recently travelling home from a Covid-19 hot spot.

THE Territory’s chief health officer Hugh Heggie has been forced to quarantine at Howard Springs Facility.
A statement from the NT Government on Friday afternoon said Dr Heggie had returned from a trip to Victoria after Greater Melbourne was declared a Covid-19 hotspot.

“Dr Hugh Heggie has returned to Darwin and is now undertaking mandatory, supervised quarantine at the Howard Springs Quarantine Facility,” the statement said.
Dr Charles Pain will continue to act as the chief health officer during this time.
It comes after Victoria entered a seven-day lockdown today after the state’s Covid-19 case tally grew to 26.
The outbreak pushed the NT to slam its border shut to Greater Melbourne and Bendigo from 12.05am on Thursday.
Health Minister Natasha Fyles has urged anyone who has travelled to the NT from Greater Melbourne and Bendigo since May 12 to immediately self-isolate and get a Covid-19 test.
Around 13,000 people have been identified by NT Health authorities as having come to the NT from Victoria during that time frame.
