It’s official! The Northern Territory has the nation’s best draught beer – and it’s being poured just a short drive from Darwin at the iconic Noonamah Tavern.
Thirty-five kilometres south of Darwin, The Noonie was awarded the country’s biggest beer gong at the National AHA Awards in Hobart on Monday.
Accepted by Hospitality NT chief executive Alex Bruce, social media frothed up at the national honour.
‘Totally agree, consistently the best coldest tapped beer I’ve tasted. Well done Noonie’ wrote Kelli King.
‘Not surprised – we ALWAYS said this was the BEST tap beer we had EVER drunk anywhere’ wrote Kayla Brenton.
‘Not surprised at all, always is the best tap beer and service’ echoed Di Jonsen.
‘Good on you Noonamah very well deserved, you never disappoint are consistently good and have fabulous staff look forward to our next visit’ said Robin Luke.
The Noonie has twice won the same award for the Territory’s best beer.
Tavern staffer David (Spokz) Wheeler said the secret to pouring the country’s best draught beer will remain just that.
“We’re not giving away all our secrets otherwise everybody will do it” he laughed.
“It’s all about best practice and keeping nice, clean beer lines, the right temperature, the way the beer is poured and clean glasses.
“It’s a pretty big honour, winning the best beer in the country. Doesn’t get much bigger than that.”
And the Territory had another national winner with Sails In The Desert Hotel at Voyages Ayers Rock Resort sharing the prestigious Best Superior Accommodation award with Tasmania’s Ship Inn.
