A major crime squad raid on a small Territory town has tracked down two of New South Wales police’s most wanted fugitives.

NT Police have confirmed the Territory Response Group located and arrested a 34 and 36-year-old man at Adelaide River on Friday, 113km south of Darwin.

Sydney man Robbie O’Reilly, 34, and South Australian Simon Khurana, 36, are wanted in NSW over allegations they were planning to commit a robbery in the Penrith area.

In April, NSW Detective Superintendent Joe Doueihi said they believed the men were planning to carry out a robbery on a person or a location and possibly an abduction for ransom.

In an August appeal, NSW Police said there were outstanding arrest warrants for robbery in company, participation in a criminal group and other serious offences against the pair.

There is no suggestion these men were involved in any other kidnappings.

On Friday NT Serious Crime Squad Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren said the high-profile arrests were a huge win, and the culmination of a partnership with NSW Police and the Australian Criminal and Intelligence Commission and Joint Organised Crime Task Force.

“These arrests were the result of excellent work by detectives and specialist units of the NT Police Force,” Sergeant Kren said.

Detectives from the New South Wales Police Robbery and Serious Crime Squad are expected to travel to Darwin seeking the extradition of the duo.

The two men will face an extradition hearing at Darwin Local Court on Monday.
