A MAN who caused a stir roaming the Charles Darwin University (CDU) Casuarina campus in the buff yesterday turned out to be the victim of an unfortunate prank, according to police.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Len Turner said about 5pm, police had received a report of a man “behaving indecently” on campus.

According to the report, the man was walking around “totally nude” and holding his genitalia.

However, Snr Sgt Turner said when police attended and found the 34-year-old man in a toilet block on campus, he told them he had actually been the victim of an unfortunate prank.

“Apparently this person, who is from down south, played a rugby game and went for a shower, and while he was doing that his friends took his clothes away,” he said.

“So he decided to venture out fully naked looking for his friends.”

Snr Sgt Turner said police had assisted the man in finding his friends – and his clothes.

“It was just an unfortunate incident,” he said.

“(His friends) should buy him a round of drinks.”
