Territorians could soon have a new way to fall into the gutter with a popular Darwin nightclub trying to build a late-night bowling alley.
Monsoons Darwin has submitted a development application which would turn an empty space into a four-lane bowling alley.
If approved, partygoers could roll down two full sized, and two reduced bowling lanes, relax in booths, and access the shoe hire facility that doubles as a bar.
In the application Monsoons said the main attraction would continue to be the nightclub and bar, but the bowling alley would provide new entertainment for customers.
The development would install bowling lanes in an “under-utilised void” in the building, previously used as a picture theatre.
“The proposed upgrades to Monsoons Darwin will continue to contribute to the attractive mixed-use environment of the Darwin CBD and will further contribute to a diversity of day and night activity within the zone,” it said.
Given the already late-night rowdy crowds, and its location on Mitchell St, Monsoons said noise concerns should not pose an issue.
