A TAXI has gone up in flames in Darwin’s northern suburbs during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The fire was caught on camera by Jack Macskimin who said he was out for a drive at 4am when he chanced upon the car on Vanderlin Dr near the United Service Station in Casuarina.
“There was a little fire under neath and we parked up to have a look at it and then there was a huge fire,” he said.

He said there were a few people watching the fire and suspected one of them was the driver.
Loud bangs can be heard in the video. Mr Macskimin said by the time NT Fire and Rescue arrived the car was engulfed, the car tyres had popped and there were sparks.

He said they were worried the blaze would reach the powerlines, however that didn’t happen.
