CHIEF Minister Michael Gunner has shut down calls to allow leftover fireworks from last year be used this Territory Day, insisting he doesn’t want to do a “half arse job” of the celebrations.

Mr Gunner said he would not be changing his mind about cancelling cracker night this year.

“I’m not going to do a half arse job of Territory Day and cracker night.

“Next year it’s going to be a banger but this Territory Day but we’re not going down the cracker path this year.

“There is no way there is anywhere near enough crackers for Territorians to be happy this year.
