Haileybury student wins prestigious competition

A Territory teen has taken out Australia’s leading neuroscience competition for high school students.

A Territory teen has set his mind on the prize and won Australia’s leading high school neuroscience competition.

Haileybury Rendall Year 10 student Peter Susanto, 13, won the national finals of the Australian Brain Bee Challenge in Adelaide.

He competed in a series of tests before tackling a live Q and A. Peter is the youngest ever winner of the national competition, and the first winner from the NT

“I’m quite proud for the NT to be represented as it should be,” he said.

“It was a really great experience because I got to meet some other amazing, young budding neuroscientists.”

In 2020 Peter will head to Washington DC to compete in the International Brain Bee World Championship.

“For me that’s a really good achievement because I get to represent the Northern Territory on an international scale,” he said.
