At the 2016 election, Greens candidate Matt Haubrick received 18 per cent of first preference votes.

Ms McGinley, who ran in Goyder at the 2016 election, said the Territory should be focusing its efforts on becoming a renewables hub, instead of gas fracking.

“The community outrage about this desecration of our land is white hot,” Ms McGinley said.

“Every week I speak with members of the Nightcliff community furious that our government could be so reckless to poison the Northern Territory with fracking.”
