THIS is it – the number one fishing destination in the Northern Territory, as judged by a team of expert anglers.
NT News and Sunday Territorian columnists Alex Julius, Matt Flynn and Chris Errity, alongside Tackle World’s Shane Compain, have combined their vast knowledge to count down the top 10 places in the NT.
1. Daly River and Anson Bay Coastal Creeks
WHEN TO FISH: March to June
WHAT TO FISH: Barramundi
The fishing can be great, average or quite tough but it’s always a beautiful waterway to be on. There’s a better-than-average chance of landing a metery or Million Dollar Fish.
It has great places to stay, like Woolianna, Banyan Farm and the Daly River Barra Resort.
Also, Goat Island, Adelaide River — the rockbars, undercut banks and snags from the island upstream provide pleasant dry season barra fishing and shopping at the island for a beer with Kai Hansen is a very Territory thing to do.
A beautiful and picturesque river to fish with plenty of barra congregating around snags and rock bars as well as around run offs.
