UPDATE: NT Police have confirmed a seven-year-old child and a 21-year-old man were killed in the tragic car crash in Berrimah.
A statement from police said emergency crews provided medical assistance to the occupants of the car, however two people, aged seven and 21 were pronounced dead.
The spokesman said two others were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with serious injuries.
Major Crash Detectives are investigating the cause of the crash.
EARLIER: Two people have been killed and a man aged 42, and woman aged 24, are in hospital being assessed after a crash on Tiger Brennan Dr.
NT Police Territory Duty Superintendent Vicki Koum said just before midnight last night a two car collision, left two people dead at the intersection of Tiger Brennan Dr and Berrimah Rd.
The intersection is strewn with debris with the front of one car severely damaged.
A light pole also appears to have come down in the collision.
There are major traffic delays now because of the crash but Tiger Brennan Dr has now opened again.
Police said a Ford Ranger was travelling inbound on Tiger Brennan Dr and a Toyota Rav 4 was driving on Berrimah Rd. They said the Rav 4 ran into the driver’s side of the Ranger.
One person died at the scene.
St John Ambulance Territory duty manager Craig Garraway said paramedics attempted unsuccessfully to resuscitate one of the patients on the way to hospital.

“It appears to have been quite a high impact and my understanding at the moment is that it was four patients, two deceased and two critical in hospital,” he said.
“It was obviously a traumatic scene and police will be there for most of the morning.”

Duty Supt Koum said two people were also taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with unknown injuries.
“Very tragically two persons are deceased,” she said.
“The Major Crash Investigation Unit are currently at the site.”
Tiger Brennan Dr is closed between Tivendale Rd and Amy Johnson Ave and Berrimah Rd is closed between Wishart Rd and Marlow Rd.
She said people needed to avoid the area as the roads would not be open for some time.
