THE Lay family has shared their heartbreak over the fire that ravaged business NT Oriental Emporium this morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene just before 3am to extinguish the fire. NT Fire and Rescue Service fire investigator Tony Miles said there was significant damage and most of the products and stock inside had been destroyed.

In a statement on Facebook the family thanked the community for their support, and said the business would be back “bigger and better”.
“Earlier this morning we woke to the news that a devastating fire had engulfed our store – we wished it was not true, but upon arrival we realised our worst nightmare had come true again,” it read.
“We want to thank the wider NT community for the outpouring of support and especially the efforts of our brave NT Police Fire and Emergency Services for their valiant efforts to try and save our store.

“We apologise to our loyal and wonderful customers for the inconvenience this has caused and we are currently making plans to relocate whilst the investigations take place.
“We are Territorians through and through. This is our home. We are not going anywhere and we will be back bigger and better than before. That is our pledge to you.”
