The Chan Building is the eighth and last of the large government office blocks to be built in the centre of Darwin in the 1960s.
It was originally known as Block 8 before being renamed after the late Harry Chan, a Chinese-Australian businessman and former Darwin Lord Mayor.
It is the last of a group of office blocks built in the 60s to house Commonwealth Government workers.
